Capital Of Laos

Vientiane, the capital of Laos, is a vibrant city and has certain very interesting things to visit.

pouring in here. Apart from this, there are riverfronts and the roads where strolling is a total fun.
Mekong River of the city enhances the serenity of the place.

The market place of Vientiane is much alike the market of Thailand and remains buzzing with
activity. There are no supermarkets in the city. Indeed, the entire marketplace seems to be
deluged with stalls of various kinds. Iconic Victory Monument is popularly known as Patuxay
by the localities here. It is the most spectacular place of the city and a tourists’ hub. This grand
monument can be viewed from the beginning of the widespread lane Xang Avenue. Although,
when the monument is seen from a distance then due to the smog it appears hazy. The monument
was built in 1960’s. The fascinating design of the monument is the evidence of fine Laotian
architectural abilities.

Another must watch architectural wonder in the capital of Laos is Luang Stupa, constructed in
16th century and containing relics of Lord Gautam Buddha. Then there is gold leaf chedi which is
another age-old heritage of Vientiane. It is indeed the most significant Buddhist construction of
Laos. The entry fee for the foreign tourists is around 1$. It is said that because the city was once
occupied by French nationals, the impact of which is seen on the architecture of the monuments
here. Visitors throng in the Buddha Park built here. The park lies at the outskirts of the city and
contains relics of Buddha which are worth viewing.

Moreover, the city is in for change. Tourists who visited the city previously used to complain of
the streets covered by filth and dust but now the wide lanes of the city have a relatively cleaner
look. There is no hustle bustle and only a small amount of traffic is seen on the roads. Many are
seen riding on the bicycles. A stroll through the Fa Ngum road of the city is enough to get the
view of the city. A good thing about the city is that one gets a comfortable accommodation at
cheaper rates. So, the visitors pouring in to the city stay longer here to visit the places of interest.

Another important aspect to capture the interests of visitors in the city is certainly its food.
Fantastic international food is available here. Also, along the river Mekong one gets to see the
food stalls where people can relish Lao food. At sunset, people throng in large numbers to have
delightful food at the food stalls. Children love to see bucket full of live fishes and frogs and
enjoy eating hot steaming noodles at food stalls here.
